As
you can see from the poster the film looks very inviting indeed
with a host of bikini-clad gals holding monstrous guns. Alas it
is not to be. The film is anything but as saucy as the poster provocatively
suggests. Cop Shop Babes is just a comedy with not much decent naked
flesh to be seen.
Two males cops, Beer (Chan)
and Satay (Lam), are assigned to a police station staffed by some
beautiful lady cops. These female hotshots are under the command
of Madam Liu (Lau), and they are otherwise known as the Cop Shop
Babes - whatever that means.
Being the red-blooded males
that they are, Beer and Satay are obviously thanking the heavens
for such a god-given change of luck. In the presence of so many
gorgeous curvy gals they start to behave in ways that is simply
not appropriate for one of their station.
After finding out that all
these attractive girls live together in one house, they assume that
they must be all lesbians, and thus they go on a mission, to turn
these luscious beauties into real women. Cue - juvenile attempts
at wooing.
But that is not all. A terrorist
by the name of Fireball is demanding Madam Liu release his partner
Rhino from police detention, otherwise he would blow up the police
station, capture the Cop Shop Babes and rape them till kingdom come.
Madam Liu, assisted by Doctor
Auyeung (Wong Jing), gets the girls going and snare this terrorist
for good.
From my synopsis you can
deduce that the film isn't particularly great. The production values
are poor and the action - or the lack of it, are badly helmed. The
leads are not given much to do, but they seem to enjoy the comedy
banter and dialogue delivery.
The promise of scantily-clad
women are far and few; the only one being a scene where two lady
cops are strung up and sprayed with water. Most of the film deals
with Beer and Satay's lame attempts of wooing, which doesn't offer
enough entertainment to last a ninety minute film. There are some
funny moments in the film, especially involving Cheung Tat Ming,
but this is not enough to save the film as a whole.
Overall, this is a disappointing
affair.
